Indian Cotton Business Group Visits Chinese Market to Find Business Opportunities

Recently, a business delegation consisting of Indian cotton traders visited China for a visit and held a small meeting yesterday at the Beijing Tiantan Hotel. The reporter was invited to attend.

It is understood that the six-day inspection tour included about 50 members of the delegation, all from the Khandesh region of Maharashtra, India. There are more than 500,000 hectares (7.5 million mu) of cotton planted in the region and 3.5 million bales (595,000 tons) of cotton. The export volume of cotton in 2011/12 exceeded 1 million bales (170 thousand tons) and was mainly exported to China. There are more than 150 ginning factories in the region and plans to produce 5 million bags (85 tons) of cotton in the future.

The head of the study tour, Mr. Pradip Jain, chairman of the Khandesh Cotton Processing Association, said: “China is the world’s largest cotton producer and consumer country, and India ranks second. In 2011/12, India’s cotton production was 35 million bales (595 Ten thousand tons), the export volume is 12.5 million bales (2.125 million tons), of which China is the most important Indian cotton importing country. We hope that both China and India can increase understanding and strengthen cooperation."

Indian cotton traders on the scene also expressed their opinions and hoped to learn more about the Chinese market in order to meet the needs of Chinese customers, provide cotton that meets the needs of the Chinese market, and establish long-term good cooperative relations with Chinese customers. In addition, they also warmly invited Chinese customers to visit India to enhance mutual understanding.
